Shay’s Way is a brand of One Ocean Natural Pet Products Ltd. (“Shay’s Way,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), a single-ingredient fish pet-food company based in Langley, British Columbia, Canada. We care about your pets, and we care about your privacy too. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit shaysway.ca (the “Site”) or place an order, how we use it, and the choices you have.

By using our Site or buying from us, you agree to the practices described here. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Site.

1. Information we collect

We collect information in three ways: what you give us, what’s collected automatically as you browse, and what we receive from trusted partners who help us run the store.

Information you give us

• Order & contact details — your name, shipping and billing address, email address, and phone number.
• Payment information — handled securely by our payment processors at checkout. We do not see or store your full card number.
• Account information — if you create an account, your login details and order history.
• Reviews & photos — if you leave a product review, the name, rating, comments, and any images you choose to share (collected through our reviews provider, Judge.me).
• Messages — anything you send us through our contact form, email, or social media.
• Marketing sign-ups — the email address and/or phone number you provide to receive our newsletter or text updates.

Information collected automatically

When you visit the Site, we and our partners automatically collect certain technical information using cookies and similar technologies:

• Your device type, browser, operating system, and IP address.
• Pages you view, links you click, and how you move through the Site.
• The website or ad that referred you to us, and general location (such as region or city).

Information from partners

We may receive information from the service providers who power our store — for example, order and fraud-prevention data from our e-commerce platform, delivery updates from shipping carriers, and audience or advertising insights from analytics and ad platforms.

2. How we use your information

We use your information to:

• Process, fulfill, and deliver your orders, and send order confirmations and shipping updates.
• Take payment and help prevent fraudulent transactions.
• Provide customer support and respond to your questions.
• Send you marketing emails and text messages where you’ve asked to receive them (see Email & SMS marketing).
• Publish and manage product reviews.
• Understand how the Site is used so we can improve it, and measure the performance of our marketing.
• Keep the Site secure and meet our legal, tax, and regulatory obligations.

We rely on your consent for optional activities like marketing, and on our legitimate business interests and legal obligations for the rest. You can withdraw consent at any time.

3. Cookies & tracking technologies

Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use them to keep your cart working, remember your preferences, understand Site traffic, and show you relevant products and ads.

• Essential cookies keep the store and checkout functioning.
• Analytics cookies (for example, Google Analytics) help us see how the Site is used.
• Advertising cookies & pixels (for example, the Meta/Facebook and Google advertising pixels) help us measure and show ads on other platforms.

You can control cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of many advertising cookies through your device or the ad platforms directly. Blocking some cookies may affect how the Site works.

4. How we share your information

We are a small, family-run business — we do not sell your personal information for money. We share it only with the partners and in the situations needed to run our store:

• Service providers — our e-commerce platform (Shopify), payment processors, shipping carriers, email and SMS marketing platforms, our reviews provider (Judge.me), and analytics and advertising partners — all so they can perform services on our behalf.
• Advertising partners — when we use advertising pixels, some information may be shared with ad platforms to measure and deliver ads. Under certain U.S. laws this may be considered “sharing” or a “sale” for targeted advertising; see Your privacy rights to opt out.
• Legal & safety — when required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect our rights, customers, or the public.
• Business transfers — if our business is sold, merged, or reorganized, your information may transfer as part of that transaction.

5. Email & SMS marketing

If you opt in, we’ll send you occasional emails and/or text messages about new products, offers, and Shay’s Way news. We’ll only message you if you’ve given us permission.

• Email: unsubscribe any time using the link at the bottom of any marketing email.
• SMS: reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply, and message frequency varies. Consent to texts is not a condition of purchase.

Even if you opt out of marketing, we’ll still send you essential messages about your orders.

6. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights over your personal information.

Canada

Under Canada’s PIPEDA and British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), you may request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, and withdraw your consent to our use of it (subject to legal and contractual limits).

United States (including California)

If you live in a U.S. state with a privacy law such as California’s CCPA/CPRA, you may have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, request a copy, ask us to delete or correct it, and opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your information for targeted advertising. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

7. Data retention

We keep your information only as long as we need it — to provide our products and services, maintain your account, and meet our legal, accounting, and tax obligations. When we no longer need it, we securely delete or anonymize it.

8. How we protect your data

We use industry-standard safeguards, including encryption at checkout, to protect your information. Our store runs on Shopify, which maintains PCI-DSS-compliant security for payments. No method of transmission over the internet is ever 100% secure, but we work hard to protect your data and limit access to those who need it.

9. Where your data is stored

We’re based in Canada, and we ship to both Canada and the United States. Your information may be stored and processed on servers located in Canada, the United States, or other countries where our service providers operate. Wherever it’s handled, we take steps to ensure it’s protected in line with this policy.

10. Children’s privacy

Our Site and products are intended for adults. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with their information, please contact us and we’ll delete it.

11. Third-party links

Our Site may link to other websites — for example, our social media pages or retail partners. We’re not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites, so we encourage you to read their policies too.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Significant changes may also be communicated by email or a notice on the Site.
